Content With You

What a lovely feeling

Your hand upon mine

The brush of your cheek

As I kiss you good night

The knowing glances

Across the room,

Sending thoughts we share

Responding in kind to the laughter of children.

How lovely our grandchildren

Playing in the yard

Chasing butterflies

...Just out of reach

And giggling they run

“Catch me if you can!”

Breathlessly repeating the game

Spanning the centuries

“Catch me, please.

And hold on eternally.”
